London Fashion Week on the 3rd: fantasy wild play lead protagonist

London Fashion Week 2011, during its autumn and winter season, entered its third day on the 20th, bringing together a lineup of British designers. Renowned names like Ma Po Li and "Empress Dowager" Vivienne Westwood once again embraced a dreamy, wild aesthetic for the new season. At Claridge’s Hotel Ballroom on Brook Street, the Marlborough show captured the essence of English rural charm. The area around Brook Street and New Bond Street is home to some of the world's top luxury brands—Hermès, Cartier, Gucci, Chanel—making it a central hub for fashion lovers. This season’s Marlborough collection painted a pastoral idyll, with vivid imagery of bustling bushes and forest wildlife. The color palette included winter whites, mocha grays, fox browns, onion reds, and heather purples—echoing the classic styles of hunters, anglers, and shooters, but with a playful twist in the cuts. Handbags remained a focal point, with the new Baywater classic series featuring added rivets and a diagonal shoulder strap. The Carter bag line introduced thick double belt handles, maintaining the classic camera bag shape while adding extra pockets, blending luxury with modern flair. Emma Hill, creative director of Marlborough, never forgets her four-legged friends. Last season, two French Bulldogs walked the runway as supermodels; this time, two Schnauzers stole the spotlight. Dressed in the latest Tillie dog cloaks in brown and black, they interacted with the audience, adding a charming, whimsical touch to the show. Meanwhile, Malibu England continued its sweet, pastoral theme this season. "West Queen Mother" Vivienne Westwood chose the "Royal Romance Alice in Wonderland" theme, which surprised many. Bright colors, Scottish tartan patterns, crowns, and bowler hats created a chaotic yet magical atmosphere, described by Vivienne as the "chaos of a runaway Queen of Holstein and the White Queen falling into the bushes." Despite the cold-weather designs, she still favored skirt shorts and knee-high socks, saying, "Shorts are a big secret. If I were young, I’d definitely wear them." Exaggerated makeup was another highlight of the "Alice in Wonderland"-inspired look. Models had blood-red lips, golden or green cheeks, and exaggerated eyebrows, echoing the surreal style of Johnny Depp’s character in the film. High-waisted velvet pants and oversized bow dresses brought back the regal elegance of old British courts. Vivienne, the punk godmother, expressed her respect for the British royal family, even at their most bizarre: “They gave value to Britain. Ending with the chaotic vision of the royal family roaming through Alice’s wonderland, though everything was very messy.”
