According to the US Cotton Export Weekly report issued by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) on April 14, during the week of April 1st - April 7th, due to the cancellation of a large number of contracts, the U.S. Upland cotton net contract sales amounted to -20,965 tons. Significant increases were recorded in Mexico (718 tons), Japan (544 tons), Thailand (392 tons) and Ecuador (370 tons). The regions with a net negative sign are mainly mainland China (-12583 tons), Vietnam (-6009 tons), Turkey (-3440 tons), Indonesia (-1437 tons) and Pakistan (-218 tons). In 2011/12, about 36,095 tons of new cotton swabs were sold to Pakistan (15,087 tons), Vietnam (6052 tons) and Indonesia (3,984 tons).
The shipment of 67,248 tons during the week was 41% lower than the previous week and 27% lower than the average of the last four weeks. It was mainly shipped to mainland China (20,856 tons), Turkey (129,31 tons), Indonesia (6096 tons), Mexico (4,985 tons), Brazil (4833 tons) and Thailand (4,528 tons).
In mainland China, there was a net signing of -12,583 tons for the week, and shipments of 20,856 tons were 48% lower than last week, accounting for 18% of the total shipments.
During the week, there were Mexico (748 tons), Japan (567 tons), Thailand (408 tons), Ecuador (386 tons), and China (-13109 tons), Vietnam ( -6260 tons), Turkey (-3583 tons), Indonesia (-1497 tons), Pakistan (-227 tons).
Upland cotton is shipped to China (21,727 tons), Turkey (13,472 tons), Indonesia (6,350 tons), Mexico (5,194 tons), Brazil (50,35 tons), and Thailand (47,17 tons).
In 2011/12 Pima cotton contracted Japan (318 tons), China (204 tons), Bangladesh (113 tons), and Pakistan (91 tons).
Pima cotton was shipped to Indonesia (431 tons), Japan (340 tons), South Korea (227 tons), and Bangladesh (113 tons) in 2011/12.
Contracted 2012/13 upland cotton includes Pakistan (15,717 tons), Vietnam (6,305 tons), and Indonesia (4,150 tons).
The Pima cotton contract for 2012/13 was Germany (91 tons).
