Yang Zhenhua, member of the National Cultural Relics Appraisal Committee, expert in ancient jade and ancient ceramics, and an adjunct professor of the Department of Culture and Literature of Nanjing Normal University and the Fine Arts Department of Tsinghua University, has been engaged in the identification of cultural relics for more than 40 years. As the current author of the ancient jade identification, she believes that the value of jade is composed of three parts: jade value, craft value and historical value. After the Ming and Qing Dynasties, jade value accounted for 50%, craft value accounted for 30%, and historical value accounted for 20%. When identifying whether a piece of jade is old jade, it can be identified from five aspects: shape, ornamentation, ochre, knife and skin (slurry).
