Happy Monday! As I mentioned last week, today is the moment you've all been waiting for—the announcement of the winner of the Swingset Skirt sew-along.
This week, twenty-eight of you shared your completed Swingset Skirts on platforms like Flickr, Instagram, Twitter, and even your personal blogs. Each participant added their creations to our linky party, and over the weekend, our panel of judges reviewed every single one to decide who would take home the grand prize. While each of these skirts is a winner in its own right, only one could claim the top spot.
Congratulations go to Amy, who has won a $100 shopping spree at Oliver + S! Her version of the Swingset Skirt is nothing short of stunning. She crafted a chic tweed skirt featuring pockets, an oversized bow, and vintage lace embellishments along the hemline. The panelists couldn't stop raving about her design. One judge remarked, "I love the contrast lining and the addition of the trim and large bow. It makes it more dressy." Another added, "The added details of the tie and lace make this one a very cute, but versatile skirt."

But Amy wasn't done there—she also created another beautiful version of the Swingset Skirt using a vintage tablecloth. Talk about creativity! Our panelists were thoroughly impressed by her resourcefulness. One judge noted, "I have great respect for anyone who makes something old new. I love to upcycle things myself, and Amy handled the vintage tablecloth with great care! First she had to carefully clean it and then had to piece it together to make it work for the pattern. She also layered the lining piece on top, which I think was a stroke of genius."

Other participants also brought their A-game, and our panelists couldn't help but highlight a few more standout skirts. Take a look at what Darcy did—her skirt features a pretty hand-crocheted hem that adds a unique touch.

Sara went the extra mile by sewing up two coordinating sister skirts. The metallic accents on the fabric paired beautifully with the neutral tones, making them both stylish and timeless. One of our panelists commented, "I’m a sucker for neutrals and I love the metallic accents on the skirt fabric. Plus, Sara’s blog post about the skirts would be really helpful to anyone thinking of sewing the skirts. She did a fine job of sharing thinking through all the details."

Laurel also made a fantastic contribution with her Nani Iro blue polka dot version. The bright colors and playful pattern give this skirt a cheerful vibe.

Meanwhile, bkroll on Flickr shared a fun green ensemble that caught everyone's attention. The combination of fabrics and the longer underskirt made this skirt stand out as completely adorable.

One of our panelists added, "The combination of fabrics and longer underskirt make this one a standout and completely adorable looking…can’t wait to see a modeled pic!"
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants for sharing their beautiful creations. The Swingset Skirt sew-along was a true testament to the creativity and talent within our community.
Now, we want to hear from you! What did you think of this new format for the sew-alongs? Did you enjoy the addition of the sew-along panel and the linky party? Should we continue using this method for future sew-alongs? Your feedback is invaluable, and we'd love to hear your thoughts.
To wrap things up, here’s the final collection of Swingset Skirts that were submitted:
