Summer is here, there are a lot of "new fabrics" on the clothing market: such as quick-drying fabrics, ice silk, feather velvet...
This has caused many consumers to call "I don't understand."
What is the “real body†of these “new fabrics We interviewed relevant experts from Chongqing Fiber Inspection Bureau.
Experts remind consumers that when buying clothing, they must look at the ingredients listed on the clothing. Consumers should also pay attention to the names of the ingredients used in some clothing, to see their "real body."
Quick-drying fabrics generally do not contain cotton
Quick-drying fabric is a kind of fabric commonly used in summer clothing.
From a technical point of view, the fabric generally has certain technological elements; but from the composition point of view, the composition of the quick-drying fabric is often based on polyester fiber.
If a garment uses a quick-drying fabric that contains cotton, the wicking properties of the garment will be affected. Because cotton has the property of absorbing water.
If the cotton content of a garment exceeds 5%, the quick-drying effect is generally not achieved.
Ice silk is not the name of the fiber component
In the summer, there will be a lot of clothing made of ice silk fabrics on the market. However, in the relevant standards of clothing, ice silk is not the name of the fiber component, nor is it natural fiber.
"Ice silk is actually composed of one or more kinds of fiber components, called this name, in fact, it is just a hoe." The relevant person in charge said that ice silk is generally chemical fiber, such as nylon .
However, the fiber component used by ice silk is often used for children and the elderly in order to achieve the effect of "ice", which tends to have high fiber density and poor air permeability.
Feather velvet does not contain a feather
In the name of the fabric, as well as something that sounds very "natural" names, such as cashmere, mink cashmere, plush feather and so on. However, there is no such name in the standard name of the fiber component.
In fact, these seemingly "natural" fabrics are usually made of polyester, which is the familiar chemical fiber: polyester .
Take the feather velvet fabric as an example. In fact, it does not contain a feather and the polyester content is 100%.
Remind children that the amount of cotton in the clothing is recommended to be more than 35%
In children's clothing, the fiber content is more particular and more important. Especially for children's clothing that is worn close to the body, chemical fiber should not be too much.
Children's skin is delicate, and some chemical fibers have poor air permeability. Direct contact with children's skin can easily make children feel uncomfortable.
It is recommended that children wear clothing that is close to the body, and the cotton fiber content should not be less than 35%. Because cotton fiber has better moisture absorption and air permeability, it is more suitable for children to wear.
At the same time, the experts also reminded parents that when choosing clothes for children, they should pay attention to see the safety categories of clothing labels: infant clothing products are Class A; clothing products that are in direct contact with skin are Class B; clothing products that are not directly in contact with skin are Class C.
